Here is the interview that I did with Ginger Galloway for the Promises to Remember Party.
What main genre do you currently write in and what inspired you to write in this area?
Genre is a funny thing with me. I’m a poet first. But I have been writing novels and stage plays as well as far as my novels are concerned my first novel was fiction my second novel is science fiction so I would say that I’m not really any particular genre and all of them at the same time
Tell me something totally fun and random about yourself that readers may be surprised by.
I withdrew from freshman English Composition twice (1987) because I was flunking. I ended up dropping out of college returning as an adult and getting my degree in 2007 in education.
Who is one person that not only inspires you but impacts the author that you are today?
My inspiration comes from many places. I have an awesome mentor who is a poet and a playwright and has always encouraged me to write write write write write. My grandfather was a great encouragement as he was always proud that I have always claimed to be a writer.
I am also inspired by some awesome women who have paved the way for us…Octavia Butler, Toni Morrison, and Maya Angelou
For 2015 have you set any goals for yourself when it comes to your author career?
2015 needs to be my year of completions. I have a novel I have been working on, a children’s chap book, and two plays in my computer. The first goal for this year is to get some of that work DONE
If you could choose a “how to tutorial for indie authors” what would it be and why?
The advice I would give is: Don’t be in a rush. Publishing a book takes time. Don’t skip the important steps (proofreading, editing, rewriting), don’t take shortcuts, and don’t be discouraged in the meantime.
